This is all about reflecting light back on deserving people. That's always my goal. I like just enough light on me that somebody else looks pretty cool in whatever way I can kick that light back to them.
In that vein, here's two totally deserving people who inspire me. The first is my college buddy, Elston Gunn, who writes for Ain't It Cool News. It's tough being competitive over "who knows what" when you're competing against this guy. He's great, and he's done a great job spotlighting cool people in his work.
The second guy is Thomas Sigel. On top of being responsible for some incredible cinematography over the last decade, Sigel was the second unit DP for Matewan. If you don't know why I think that's cool - read below, or wait and read ahead.
EG interviewed Sigel for AICN about his award-winning short The Big Empty. From this interview alone, I'm looking to get me a copy of McSweeney's "Wholphin."
